Solar that belongs in the roof.

In-roof panels sit within the roof covering for a more integrated appearance. They are worth considering alongside a new roof, extension or renovation.

SEE HOW IT FITS TOGETHER

A new roof. Solar built in.

Watch a concrete-tiled roof with integrated solar come together, layer by layer.

Felt underlay is laid first, followed by treated battens, in-roof trays and solar panels. Flashing and concrete tiles complete the surrounding roof covering.

A 32-second illustrative construction sequence. Product geometry and detailing are simplified; the installation follows the selected roof system’s requirements.

THE DESIGN STARTS HERE

What we consider.

01

Understand the finish

An integrated mounting system replaces roof covering in the panel area. It is different from a roof made up of individual solar tiles.

02

Compare value fairly

A conventional panel in an in-roof system can provide a clean finish at a different cost from premium solar tiles. Compare actual specifications.

03

Design the roof details

Weatherproofing, ventilation, edges and transitions need careful planning. The mounting system must suit the roof and chosen panels.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOUR HOME?

Suitability comes before specification.

Often considered for

Reroofs, suitable new builds and renovations where a flush finish matters.

What affects the design and cost

Roof pitch, structure, covering, available layout and the compatible mounting system, including GSE where suitable.

YOUR QUESTIONS

A little more detail.

Are in-roof panels the same as solar tiles?
No. In-roof panels use larger solar modules integrated into a roof system. Solar tiles are smaller roof-integrated generating units with a different appearance and specification.
Can I keep some of my existing roof covering?
Sometimes. Condition, compatibility, layout and detailing determine whether reuse is sensible. This needs assessment.
