Ask the questions that matter.
A roofing and energy project is a considered decision. Here are useful answers before your first conversation.
Who is responsible for the roofing and solar work?
SolarCoverUK manages the agreed roofing and energy installation as one project. The written quotation sets out the work included. Contact us first if you have a question about the installation.
Do I need to know which system I want?
No. Tell us about the house, your roof and what you are hoping to achieve. We can compare suitable options and explain why we recommend a particular design.
What happens after I enquire?
We review your project details and discuss the next useful step. An initial estimate may need photographs or plans. A final specification and quotation depend on the necessary assessment and survey.
Will you recommend the most expensive option?
We recommend an option around the property and your objectives. If a simpler or lower-cost design makes more sense, we explain that.
What affects the total price?
Roof area, covering and complexity; access and scaffolding; solar and battery specification; electrical work; and any additional repairs. Compare itemised scopes, rather than headline totals.
Which areas do you cover?
We discuss projects across the UK and Channel Islands. Send your postcode so we can confirm availability, survey arrangements and aftercare for your location.
What protection applies after installation?
Workmanship, manufacturer warranties and any applicable insurance-backed cover have different terms. Your project documents should identify the provider, scope, duration and exclusions for each.
Can I send photographs?
Yes. Send project photographs to Matthew, our Sales Manager, on WhatsApp. Only photograph from a safe position; there is no need to climb onto your roof.
Do I have to replace my roof to have solar?
No. A sound, suitable roof may work well with on-roof solar. We assess its condition and explain the options.
Can I compare roof-only and combined costs?
Yes. Ask us to price the same roof specification both ways. The difference shows the additional investment in the energy system, subject to the agreed scope.
Will a battery power my home during a power cut?
Only with a suitable backup configuration. The circuits supported, available power and duration depend on the design and charge available.
Are savings guaranteed?
No. Any estimate depends on generation assumptions, usage, tariffs and how the system is operated. Individual results vary.
Are in-roof panels the same as solar tiles?
No. In-roof panels use larger solar modules integrated into a roof system. Solar tiles are smaller roof-integrated generating units with a different appearance and specification.
Can I keep some of my existing roof covering?
Sometimes. Condition, compatibility, layout and detailing determine whether reuse is sensible. This needs assessment.
Will you recommend a less expensive option?
Yes, where we believe it better fits your requirements. We explain the reasons and the trade-offs.
Are solar tiles suitable for listed buildings?
Appearance alone does not determine suitability or consent. The property, product and any required approvals must be assessed individually.
Can I add storage to existing solar?
Often, but equipment compatibility and electrical design must be checked. Share your inverter and existing system details.
Does a Sigenergy battery include whole-home backup?
Do not assume that it does. Backup equipment, configuration and supported loads must be explicitly included in the proposal.
Can every flat roof take solar?
No. Roof condition, structural capacity and the mounting design need assessment.
Can you quote for roofing without solar?
Yes. Let us know whether you want roof renewal alone or a comparison with solar included.
